30 days of Anime (Day 1) - First Anime - Super Book

I didn’t realize this was my first anime series until like 2 years ago. I always thought I started at Pokemon…but I still have video tapes of this :)

30 days of Anime (Day 2) - Favorite Anime - Ouran High School Host Club

I love this type of comedy, and BONES did this so well. Not too shoujo, not too crass, not too random…it’s like perfect :D Will watch and recommend forever.

30 days of Anime (Day 3) - Your Anime Crush - Totally crushing on Greed!Ling right now.

it’s like YuGiOh!, with 2 personalities in 1 body, but 1 of them isn’t a pussy like Yugi. 2 for price of one~ I really like their spunk and obnoxiousness, but they also have really strong emotions and a sort of ferociousness to them, yeah? Especially about their comrades/lovers (lucky you, RanFan!)

Plus, twin love + trenchcoats is hot. I really tried to resist posting a pic like this….not really tho :3

30 days of Anime (Day 4) - Anime you’re ashamed you enjoyed - Fushigi Yuugi

I was young okay? D:

Yuu Watase is just one of extremely dramatic shoujo writers, when I was young I could be like omg hawt guys and adventure, yay! but now when I look back it’s all very…Mary Sue, girl gets thrown into sausagefest world, she always in some sort of love limbo with this one guy and everyone on the good team pretty much falls in love with her, and her bbf is brainwashed into her enemy and it’s so highschool angst. Just with more magic and demons and period clothing. Plus some of the brainwashing/memory stuff they pull…so frustrating. probably a reason I don’t watch K-dramas…i is scared of the overly dramatic. it makes me feel icky :6

I still do like a lot of the minor characters and backstories/relationships…the subplots and whatnot.

30 Days of Anime (Day 5) - Anime character you feel you are most like (or wish you were) - Tamaki Suoh

Cool and leader-like? check
Actually a stupid idiot? check
Comic relief? people laugh at me a lot (‘_’;) wtf, I thought I was saying something normal.

One of my defining moments in life was when I was the president of JAC…i know it’s weirdly nerdy like that, but it was a stage in my life when I moved out of the depressing teen years and became like some…I dunno…big ball of MWUAHAHADURHUHUR that I am now.

From that, I see myself then as some sort of oddball leader that likes to surround herself with epicly awesome friends who think i’m retarded but still love me because my idiocidy is hilarious and we have all sorts of fun adventures together. i could go into detail about my obnoxiousness but I gotta try and seem cool to the tumblr folk :d

I’m also pretty good at not understanding romantic feelings >_>; hahahahahahaha

30 days of Anime (Day 6) - Most Annoying Anime Character - the somehow important damsel in distress

It’s hard to think of an actual annoying character off the top of my head, but this character type is probably my least favorite :T

Usually this character is the weak(er) female who’s sole purpose is to be the romantic interest of male protagonist. It’s often a Mary Sue personality, sometimes ditzy/clueless/stupid, and they don’t do much but give an encouraging speech every once in a while. The annoying  thing this is that male characters can have such strong feelings for these girls…because their “redeeming point” is that they’re…cute? Big boobs? moe?…

 I prefer my female characters to fight for what they want, and look cool while doing it.

PS: i just picked the characters pictured off the top of my head, they may have changed later in the plot lines (like, really don’t know about Sakura in TRC) but they really come off as those gentle, sappy puddles of emotion that apparently guys go gaga over.)

PPS: Technically there IS one character who i screamed in agony when I knew they were going to show up…

The voice during the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood commercial break screen…OH GOD. my ears, they burned…

30 days of Anime (Day 7) - Favorite Anime Couple - Sakura and Syaoran

I think originally when I was young, I thought it was absurd that these two elementary-school-aged-kids had found “true love,” but what I came to really like about it is that it’s not drama-filled, and that it’s just simply meant to be. It’s like…really pure. *shrug* not sure how to describe.

It doesn’t have angst, or jealousy from others, or stupidity…it’s very innocent and very cute, but also a very strong relationship and not to be thought as silly or immature, for some reason.

30 days of Anime (Day 8) - Most Epic Scene Ever - the revealing of the Paper Sisters

This was really hard to think of =w=;; I know a lot of anime out there is really epic (especially shonens, with the underdogs grasping so hard to beat imaginable odds *coughhackcoughGURRENLAGANNcoughcough*) but if we’re talking about SCENES…this one is special and a little different.

It’s right at the beginning of the series, and it’s breathtaking because of the intensity of the situation (terrorist-hostage situation) and the best introduction ever. A lot of “epic scenes” are epic because of the emotions that are carried from character backgrounds and situations that the series put in place, and without them, it’s just kinda weird and a lot of posturing…I kinda learned that by trying to cheat and use Youtube to re-find a scene, but separated from the rest of the context, those scenes were really hard to be completely into it.

What I really remember about the R.O.D scene is that when I initally saw it, i wasn’t even paying attention to the episode, it was in the background playing. BUT THIS SCENE….this TOTALLY caught my attention and made me go “what…omg. O_O”

The timing (slow-mo and realtime mixup) really helps the intensity, and not to mention the MUSIC is just..URGHHH (melts in puddle of goo from awesomeness). And I just…really wasn’t expecting crazy paper animations. It’s the first time the Sisters reveal who they are, so to me it was very surprising and is still stunning.

30 days of Anime (Day 9) - Saddest Anime Scene - Momiji’s story

I think I feel saddest when a character has to suffer/sacrifice so much for another’s happiness and well-being, and they do it with a smile. It’s just so heart wrenching. Momiji’s backstory is an extreme of this, because he doesn’t deserve it (he’s just born that way), and his mom, whom he still loves so much, completely rejected him and just…the way their interaction in this scene was just so terrible. But WHY ARE YOU SO HAPPY, MOMIJI…WHY…Q______Q plus, he’s still ALIVE (versus dying for someone) so he’s still suffering this, forever…

Honorable mention - Nuriko’s Death

This I would consider more a personal choice, it’s not an epic death scene but it’s really memorable to me, probably because if was my first anime death. I started watching Fushigi Yuugi in the 2nd season, which really starts strong on building up the awesome side of Nuriko….and then all of a sudden BAM! He gets severely injured, and then he decides to move the boulder with his dying strength so others can continue on their journey. Saddest part is this whole ordeal, he was alone…it’s like OMG SOMEONE HELP HIM
…they even had a healer on the team, it’s like if he didn’t try moving the boulder, he could have possibly lived long enough, but he didn’t want to risk…NUUUUUU and he’s so peaceful when he’s dying…even a flash forward scene to ‘if he lived’ sort of ordeal…how happy he looked…asdfahgsjhgfakjh;asd
